SUMMARY:GRI Global Report Initiative conference 2010
DESCRIPTION:The Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Tran
parency\n\nIn May 2010 Amsterdam will once again play host to the worl
d’s largest gathering of leaders, thinkers and doers in the field of
sustainability reporting. But this time the stakes are much higher.\n
\nPeople 4 Earth will be panelist for “Future Trends on Reporting an
d Product Disclosure”\n\nRethink\n\nOur resource consumption has gon
e beyond what our planet can sustain, yet billions continue to live in
poverty. The world’s population is set to increase massively and mo
re and more people will, understandably, expect to live the lifestyles
currently enjoyed by the few. This unsustainable outlook has become a
core business issue, requiring companies and governments to rethink t
he fundamentals.\n\nRebuild\n\nAs we climb out of global recession we
have a unique opportunity – and an urgent need - to rebuild our econ
omies to meet the challenges of the future; not the past. We have the
opportunity to drive the transition to sustainable practices, where su
stainability is at the core of public policy and business strategy, ev
ident in products and processes, and key to consumer choices.\n\nRepor
t\n\nSustainability reporting can be an effective tool for change. Cre
dible disclosures map out current positions and point the way forwards
, towards solutions that benefit both business and wider society. Full
economic, environmental and social accountability is based on transpa
rent communication. Transparent communication changes perceptions, bui
lds trust, and motivates action towards greater sustainability.\n\nThe
Amsterdam conference will convene a debate on how reporting can be us
ed to help build a better future. Thought leaders from business, finan
ce, government and civil society will debate the political, strategic
and practical choices confronting us. Expert practitioners will lead w
orkshops and interactive sessions to define the building blocks of mor
e effective reporting.\n\nSustainability reporting is the key tool dri
ving us towards a sustainable future.\n\nJoin us at the 2010 Amsterdam
Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency to make this fut
 ure a reality.\n\nFor more information visit http://platform.people4ea
