Consumers want reduced CO2 footprint

Consumers want to reduce the CO2 footprint. Companies and the governments have a roll in reducing the CO2 footprint. Research shows that halve of the Dutch consumers know that greenhouse gasses a re the cause of climate change. There is not enough knowledge and there is a need for more information about CO2 emissions. This research named Duurzaamheidkompas of MarketResponse is to see trends in the Dutch public opinion about sustainability. Especially companies have to active to reduce the CO2 footprint (85%) and governments (72%) but also the consumer herself (52%).

Consumers want to have information at the point of purchase to choose for product with a lower CO2 footprint(69%). The information has to be on the package (92%) and not in the shop (35%) on the website of the company ( 21%) or in tv commercials (34%). In this research the Carbon Trust footprint logo was used which was not well known by the Dutch consumers.
